Vaginal rejuvenation: radiofrequency and pixel laser

Sure, many of us talk about sex often and quite openly. But when it comes to the problems one can have during sex, it suddenly becomes surprisingly quiet. You should talk about it exactly. If the vagina is stretched as a result of natural births and the pelvic floor slackens, it greatly reduces the feeling of pleasure. A dry vagina – something that many women know after changing – makes lovemaking painful and prone to injury and infection. Incredible 30 percent of women between the ages of 30 and 60 know what it means to lose a few drops of urine while laughing or walking – or through the shock of having sex. This does not necessarily promote devotion. The good news: Two new treatments, radiofrequency and PixelLaser, promise help. We asked two doctors how it works. And to make one thing clear: No, we do not do that so that we are beautiful for the men below. This is all about the female well-being!

Like any tissue, the vagina is subject to a natural aging process. "Vaginal births or massive weight fluctuations cause muscles and tissue in the pelvic floor to relax, which can make the urethra hyper-mobile, so that it does not hold up tightly when it is shaken," says General Medical Officer. Jasmin Darabnia the problem. "Another major topic is the decreasing level of estrogen, which often leads to severe vaginal dryness." Conventional treatment methods such as vaginal creams or pelvic floor training often bring only little, as gynecologist Dr. med. Maria Riedhart-Huter knows from her practice. "Many of my patients are very athletic, have pronounced deep muscles and are familiar with the problem anyway, it is also relatively independent of age, and my youngest patient is 30."

For a long time, the problem was hushed up, but eventually discovered treatment options – and among the methods of beauty medicine. After all, the face as well as the vagina is about rejuvenation and more tightness. ThermiVa or FemiLift are two treatments that the female doctors work with (see info below). "With ThermiVa, a fingerboard-sized radiofrequency applicator heats the entire inner surface of the vagina, as well as the clitoris and labia minora, to approximately 43-46 degrees, heat directly into deep tissue layers, encouraging collagen fibers to tighten and form new ones " explains Riedhart-Huter. "This thickens and strengthens the vaginal wall, new mucous membrane begins to build up, the principle is exactly the same as Thermage, which is used for facial lifting." The principle of FemiLift is similar. Here comes a laser used: "This pixel CO2 laser is currently the best that one knows from the face lift," emphasizes Dr. med. Darabnia. "A special applicator, similar to the gynecologist's ultrasound head, is inserted into the vagina to create minimal injury, stimulating the tissue to self-heal, inner tighten, and build new mucous membranes, resulting in a shrinking effect." Both methods are almost painless, the treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and without anesthesia. The heat is well tolerated inside the vagina, as Dr. Riedhart-Huter confirmed from own experience.

Who is the typical patient for this treatment? Mention has already been made of women with mild to moderate incontinence, for whom there were only operative alternatives (with severe incontinence this is still the case). Even after the change, women who are struggling with severe vaginal dryness, are, according to the doctor, highly satisfied with the method. "I also treat women with breast cancer who are not allowed to take hormones," Riedhart-Huter mentions another patient group. "For them, the dry vagina has actually been an unsolvable problem." She has already achieved success in chronic bladder infections and fecal incontinence after birth. And also the lost-penis-syndrome, if after a vaginal birth everything is so dilated, that there is no friction during sex, it improves massively.

Of course, a natural regression does not replace the method. "The body needs about the same amount of time as the pregnancy, about nine months to regenerate, and recovery training is incredibly important," says the gynecologist. If one or more of the symptoms described are still present, you can think about a treatment. Incidentally, this has been the norm in other countries for some time: "In the US, Argentina, Italy or Slovenia, gynecologists actively offer this to their patients", Dr. Darabnia. Now also with us a first problem awareness arises. That's why we should talk about it!

The treatment:
A pixel CO2 laser is introduced into the vagina via a special applicator and makes microscopic holes in the tissue surrounding the vagina. At the same time, it releases heat directly into deeper layers. These minimal injuries stimulate a healing process that tightens the collagen fibers, thickening the vaginal wall and providing new mucous membrane formation. For whom it fits:
The treatment is suitable for all women suffering from stress incontinence, vaginal dryness and relaxed vagina wall. Info:
The treatment is virtually painless, easy pulling, similar to mild menstrual pain, is possible, as well as some vaginal discharge. Three days you should have no intercourse. At least two applications are needed, three are recommended at intervals of four weeks each. The treatment success sets in after a few weeks. Costs: The first two applications € 900, -, the third € 600, -.

The treatment:
The tissue around the vagina with radio frequency is heated to 43 to 46 В° C with a special applicator, which is about the size of a finger. This heating stimulates tissue tightening and the regeneration of collagen. The vaginal wall becomes narrower, the urethra firmer, the mucous membrane regenerates. Also, the clitoris and the outer labia are tightened, which increases the sense of pleasure. For whom it fits:
For women with too much vagina, too little pleasure, uncontrolled loss of urine or a dry vagina.
The treatment does not hurt, it just gets a little warm. Three applications are recommended, at least two should be. First successes come after four to six weeks, the final result four weeks after the last application. Is performed on an outpatient basis without anesthesia, no downtime.
Cost: € 900, – / session.
